Prayer Life at Christ the Word

Prayer Life at Christ the Word

Central to Our Mission

At Christ the Word Catholic School, prayer is central to the life of the school. In line with the Prayer and Liturgy Directory for Catholic Schools in England and Wales, Celebration of the Word is carefully planned, and our staff use TenTen resources to ensure that this special time allows the whole school community to engage on a journey of encounter with Christ. Through these special times we explore the teachings of Christ and how these guide us in today’s world.

One with Christ

Through prayer and liturgy, our pupils are offered a daily act of Celebration of the Word involving:

  • A space to hear and reflect on the Christian story.
  • Opportunities to participate in or observe prayer, reading and reflection on the Bible, liturgy and sacrament.
  • Experiences of music, silence, and symbolic action that express the richness of Catholic worship.

Liturgical Calendar

With the support of the parish priest, Father Anthony, and Bishop Peter, children from across the school take part in regular school Mass celebrations to mark major liturgical events.  These include the Feast of the Word, Advent and Easter.
