Welcome

Christ the Word Catholic School is a Catholic school for learners from the primary and secondary age groups.

My name is Neil Foley and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the temporary Executive Headteacher of Christ the Word Catholic School. This role will involve me being responsible for both Christ the Word Catholic School and Prestatyn High School, where I have been Headteacher for the past eight successful years.

I will be here until a permanent Headteacher is appointed for your school. Although this is an interim position, I will work tirelessly alongside the Senior Leadership Team here to improve the school and make positive changes to advance the education and life chances for all learners. I will also be supported by the Leadership Team and key members of staff from Prestatyn High School, to bring about significant improvements as and where needed.

I will celebrate the excellent practice here and also tackle any areas of the school that require immediate improvement.

The Catholic ethos, faith and culture of the school will be central to all I do during my time as Executive Headteacher. Born and raised Catholic, educated in Catholic schools and having spent many years as a teacher in a Catholic school, I understand what it means to be part of and lead a Catholic school.

I will share further details and specifics later on this week after I have had time to review and evaluate the strengths and weakness in the school. I will also invite all parents to a meeting in due course to meet with myself, the Senior Leadership Team and the Governors.

There may be some tough decisions and challenges ahead to implement changes that are essential for the stability and functioning of Christ the Word Catholic School, but please be reassured that anything implemented will be in a measured way and in the best interests of the learners.

I am sure all parents and carers join me in the desire to improve the school and your support going forward is crucial.

The education and wellbeing of all pupils and staff here is my top priority and I look forward to working alongside all members of the school community on this journey.

Digital Communication With Parents/Carers From September

Dear Parents,

From September 2024 we will be updating our method communication with you to exclusively “Digital Communication.” This means that we will rarely write to you using letters / postal services. There are many advantage to this, including cost but the biggest advantage will be the efficiency of being able to reach you quickly and effectively with important information about your child’s experiences at Christ the Word School.

With that in mind we request that you ensure we have the latest phone numbers and email addresses on file by completing the form below if you have recently changed any of your details.

In September we will be writing to you and asking for you to ensure you have the School Gateway App installed and open during school time. Very many of you already have that already (thank you.)

Thanks you very much for your help and cooperation.

Kind regards,

Joe White
