The School Council at Christ the Word Catholic School plays an important role in bringing together students to discuss ideas and make decisions about the school. This group consists of elected students to act as the Chair/Vice Chairperson from different key stages from KS2 to KS4. They meet regularly to talk about things that matter to the school community. By sharing ideas and listening to one another, everyone can work together toward making the school a better place for everyone. This helps to make sure that the voices of the students are heard and that they can contribute to how their school operates.
One of the main goals of the School Council is to improve students’ experiences at school. The members discuss various topics like school events, activities, and changes that could help students learn and grow. For instance, if students want to have more clubs or sports, they can bring these ideas to the council. The council then works together to organize these events or present the ideas to the school’s Senior Leadership Team. This way, students feel more involved in their school and can see that their opinions make a real difference.
The School Council also helps to build a sense of community within the school. When students from different year groups come together, they can share their thoughts and learn from each other. This connection is key to creating a friendly and welcoming environment for all. Additionally, by working on projects and organizing events, students develop important skills such as teamwork, leadership, and communication. These skills are valuable not just in school, but in life as well. Overall, the School Council at Christ The Word Catholic School is an essential part of the school, helping everyone feel connected and valued.
