Year 1 is for learners between 5 and 6 years old.

Year 1 School starts at 8.45am
School ends at 3.10pm

  • Spend time reading with your child
  • Talk together about what they are doing in school
  • Tell your child how proud you are when they do well.
  • Encourage them to join after-school clubs or activities
  • Ask them to help you with things they are good at.
  • Your child’s teacher will provide you with updates on progress and invite you to the Progress Evenings through the year. Your child will receive a written report once a year. Progress Reports
  • Please contact the school if you have any concerns about your child and we will meet you to talk about any next steps to provide support and encouragement.
  • Make sure your contact details are up to date, including your telephone and e mail address if you have one.
  • Look out for text messages and e mails from school.
  • Check that your child gives you any letters that are sent home.
  • Check the school website.
  • Try to come along to events at school.
  • If you are worried about anything, go and talk to a teacher. They will want to help.
